Predoctoral Young Investigator, Robotics
Early-career researcher on robotics team investigating foundation models for robot manipulation, skill learning, and sim-to-real transfer in scalable simulations. Prepares candidates for PhD programs through mentorship, publications, and open-source contributions. Requires bachelor’s/master’s in relevant field.
Responsibilities
- Investigate scaling and generalization properties of foundation models for robotics and contribute to developing broadly competent robots.
- Develop agents that manipulate objects, follow instructions, and acquire new skills across diverse tasks in simulation and on real robot hardware.
- Build and leverage scalable, GPU-accelerated simulation environments for large-scale training and develop sim-to-real transfer pipelines.
- Make substantial contributions to open-source methods, datasets, benchmarks, and tools for robotics research.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field with desire to enter PhD program in next 1-3 years, or currently enrolled in related PhD program.
- Strong interest in language-model based AI, natural language processing, robotics, robot manipulation, large-scale training in simulation, sim-to-real transfer, robot foundation models, and skill learning.
