Senior Platform DevEx Engineer (DevOps)

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain GitLab CI pipeline configuration, templates, and components for standardized developer ecosystems across languages like C++, Scala, Kotlin, and Python.
• Develop Python applications, scripts, and libraries for managing builds and deployments.
• Create Kubernetes configuration templates using YTT for consistent deployments.
• Debug deployments on Kubernetes distributions like Openshift and Anthos, using ArgoCD, Istio, etc.
• Maintain documentation knowledge bases in READMEs and Confluence.
• Lead smaller projects to add new capabilities to the DevEx platform.

Requirements

Required Skills:

• 7+ years of direct experience
• Strong coding fluency in at least one programming language (Python, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript, Kotlin, Scala, Golang, Rust)
• Working knowledge of Linux systems and command line
• Familiarity with source control, CI/CD pipelines, package publishing, and containerization

Preferred Skills:

• Experience developing CLI applications
• Experience building and deploying web APIs to cloud services or Kubernetes
• Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes or Nomad, and distributions like OpenShift, Anthos, GKE, AKS, EKS
• Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, EFK stack, TIGK stack, DataDog, Sensu, Jaeger, Sentry, OpsGenie
• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines

Bonus Skills:

• Experience building high availability applications
• Experience configuring multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters
• Familiarity with Service Mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd
• Familiarity with event bus technologies like Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS Kinesis
• Familiarity with data processing tools like Apache Spark or Airflow
• Familiarity with secret management tools like Hashicorp Vault, Azure KeyVault, Google Secret Manager

Compensation

• Competitive salary: $150,000 - $250,000
