Lead Mobile Engineer, Performance

Responsibilities

• Own mobile performance end-to-end, including startup time, rendering performance, and runtime efficiency across the mobile platform.
• Define architecture, standards, and tooling for mobile performance, including memory management, rendering pipelines, network efficiency, and background processing.
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in app startup, screen transitions, real-time data rendering, and network request handling across iOS and Android.
• Design data-fetching, caching, and synchronization architectures that minimize latency and maintain responsiveness under varying network conditions.
• Build performance observability through real-user monitoring, crash reporting, frame-rate tracking, and synthetic testing.
• Establish benchmarks, performance budgets, and engineering standards to prevent regressions.

Requirements

• Deep experience in mobile performance engineering at significant scale across iOS, Android, or both.
• Strong expertise in rendering, memory management, network optimization, background processing, and app startup.
• Proficiency in Swift and/or Kotlin, with an understanding of mobile runtimes, rendering systems, and operating-system scheduling.
• Experience with real-user monitoring, frame-rate profiling, and observability systems.
• Measurement-driven approach using profiling, instrumentation, and performance validation.
• Technical leadership experience setting direction and influencing broader engineering practices.
