About the role

Responsibilities

Lead major initiatives and own a large area of Shepherd’s product experience across data collection, automated underwriting, and policy administration.
Drive technical decisions and contribute to product strategy and architectural decisions.
Work across the stack and collaborate across disciplines, including underwriting, design, and product management.
Take end-to-end ownership of features and systems from conception through release.
Balance innovation with pragmatic delivery while shipping high-quality products.
Mentor engineers and contribute to the company’s engineering culture.
Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

At least 8 years of professional experience, preferably as a full-stack engineer.
Experience delivering high-impact products.
Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript on the backend and/or frontend.
Experience working with insurance, such as in an InsurTech or actuarial role.
Comfort with ambiguity, ownership, and cross-functional problem-solving.
