About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and apply data science solutions to improve advertiser experience and Reddit’s ad platform.
  • Analyze large-scale datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that improve advertising effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to define product requirements and translate them into data science solutions.
  • Develop machine learning models and data science methods for anomaly detection, prediction, and pattern recognition.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Stay current with advancements in machine learning and data science.
  • Mentor and guide junior data scientists.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (master’s or PhD) in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, physics, economics, or operations research.
  • Master’s degree holders: 5+ years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.
  • PhD holders: 4+ years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.
  • Platform experience and a deep understanding of the advertising ecosystem.
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, causal inference, and experimental design.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing and analysis using Spark, Hadoop, or Hive; BigQuery knowledge is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Python or R and experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Passion for Reddit and the online advertising industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with online advertising and ad tech.
  • Experience with causal inference and A/B testing.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or publications in relevant conferences or journals.

Compensation

  • Base salary range: $190,800–$267,100 USD.
  • Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units; select positions may also be eligible for commission.
