Embedded Software Engineering Intern

Embedded software interns develop real-time Linux applications, Rust firmware, and backend systems for semiconductor fabrication equipment. Responsibilities

  • Develop real-time Linux applications and microcontroller firmware in Rust to control semiconductor fabrication equipment.
  • Build backend systems for capturing and analyzing semiconductor process data.
  • Bring up high-performance semiconductor fabrication tools with tight requirements across structures, optics, liquids, heat transfer, physics, and chemistry.
  • Work on an integrated engineering team and iterate rapidly through building and testing.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical and computer engineering, computer science, or a similar field.
  • Proficiency in Python, C, and C++.
  • Low-level systems programming experience and understanding of embedded systems and operating-system concepts, including Linux and RTOS.
  • Microcontroller programming experience.
  • Knowledge of microcontroller peripherals including ADC, GPIO, PWM, SPI, and I2C.
  • Portfolio demonstrating software engineering projects and hands-on work; a GitHub portfolio is acceptable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with electronics and feedback control systems.
  • Proficiency in Rust.
  • Experience with end-to-end system bring-up.

Compensation and benefits

  • Hourly compensation equivalent to an annualized range of $114,000–$131,000, depending on experience and education; actual earnings vary with hours worked.
