Electrical System Integration Engineer - New Grad

Designs and validates automotive electrical systems through wire harness development, HiL bench integration, firmware bringup, and automated testing. Requires a 2026 engineering or computer science graduate with hands-on lab experience and familiarity with embedded programming and vehicle communication protocols.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Design routing and retention for automotive wire harnesses, cables, and connectors, emphasizing assembly, serviceability, and robust functionality.
  • Build, instrument, and maintain hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) test benches for electrical system integration and validation.
  • Perform firmware bringup on new ECUs and vehicle hardware, including flashing, debugging boot and communication issues, and validating interfaces against specifications.
  • Develop bills of materials, wire specifications, and material specifications.
  • Create and manage CAD 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and Altium for low-voltage, high-voltage, and high-speed vehicle interconnects.
  • Write scripts and tooling to automate bench test execution and data capture.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive program delivery.
  • Work with OEMs, vendors, and partners to identify solutions for the vehicle platform.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or an equivalent program, completed in 2026.
  • Coursework, internship, research, or project experience in electrical hardware design, embedded systems, or test bench development.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, bench power supplies, soldering, and crimping.
  • Familiarity with embedded C/C++ and a scripting language such as Python.
  • Exposure to serial and vehicle communication protocols including CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, UART, or Ethernet.
  • Willingness to work hands-on in a laboratory and vehicle garage environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Wire harness design experience and familiarity with automotive standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, ISO 6722, and SAE J1128.
  • Experience with HiL platforms or bench automation frameworks such as dSPACE, NI/VeriStand, Vector CANoe, or custom rigs.
  • Firmware bringup experience on a new board or ECU, including bootloaders, JTAG/SWD debugging, and peripheral configuration.
  • Formula SAE, Baja, solar car, robotics, or similar hands-on vehicle team experience.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, Altium, Capital, or CATIA.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
