Responsibilities
- Research and develop state-of-the-art guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for high-performance flight.
- Work on an agile, first-principles engineering team.
- Tune and optimize control systems in simulation and real-world environments.
- Model vehicle dynamics, flight controls, and simulation systems.
- Extract linear aircraft state-space models from nonlinear equations of motion.
- Design or select servos, inertial navigation systems, air data units, and vision-based navigation systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering with a focus on Control Systems, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 6 years with a master's degree, 4 years with a PhD, or equivalent experience in vehicle dynamics modeling, flight controls, or simulation.
- Production experience with C++.
- Experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
- Expert knowledge of aircraft dynamics and control, stability, and handling qualities.
- Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline with a focus on Control Systems.
- Experience with modern control theory, including LQR/LQG, adaptive control, robust control, and model predictive control.
- Familiarity with Kalman filters and system identification techniques.
- Familiarity with Git and continuous integration and delivery.
