Senior/Staff Systems Engineer, Platform Systems

Leads requirements, architecture, integration, performance characterization, and validation for autonomous-vehicle platform systems. Requires systems engineering experience, expertise in robotics and HIL or on-road testing, plus C++, Python, and MATLAB proficiency.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Lead system-level requirements definition, architecture design, integration strategy, and validation for a platform area such as autonomy sensors, autonomous-vehicle compute, motion control, pose/localization, or end-to-end latency.
  • Characterize and quantify system performance, defining nominal targets, minimum performance, and acceptance criteria across operational design domains (ODDs).
  • Recommend operating constraints for current and future ODDs across vehicle platforms, including trajectory constraints and sensor performance envelopes.
  • Define and quantify test coverage across simulation, software-in-the-loop (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), closed-course, and on-road testing.
  • Partner with software teams on interfaces, performance metrics, failure modes, and validation strategies; validate platform modules against ground truth where applicable.
  • Collaborate with hardware, electrical engineering, and external vendors on component selection, characterization, and integration.
  • Review and recommend changes to supplier requirements and test plans.
  • Support verification and validation by reviewing additional tests and implementing test cases in SIL/HIL environments.
  • Analyze test data, perform root-cause analysis for complex cross-functional integration issues, and drive issues to resolution.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in autonomy sensors, autonomous-vehicle compute, motion control, pose/localization, or end-to-end latency.
  • Deep understanding of robotic systems and verification and validation planning.
  • Experience testing in HIL environments or conducting on-road testing.
  • Hands-on systems engineering experience.
  • Ability to read C++ code and write Python and MATLAB code.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Autonomous vehicle or advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) experience.
  • Familiarity with STPA and ISO 21448 safety standards.

Compensation

  • Base pay range: $160,360–$291,150.
  • Eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and competitive benefits.
