Responsibilities
- Build the MCP servers, agents, and plugin infrastructure that Carta's AI native development runs on, and define the patterns other engineers follow
- Design and ship agents purpose-built to solve specific developer problems across the software delivery lifecycle
- Architect and drive CI/CD pipelines that automate build, test, and deployment to accelerate delivery across R&D
- Build the infrastructure AI tooling runs on, so other engineers can build on top of it with confidence
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through code reviews and architectural guidance
Requirements
- Experience: 8+ years in platform, backend, or fullstack engineering
- AI Builder: Shipped production LLM systems (MCP servers/clients, AI extensions, connectors, or agents)
- Platform Mindset: Build platforms other engineers use; focus on APIs and developer ergonomics
- Tech Stack: Python or Java; CI/CD (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, Docker); cloud-native (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes); secrets management (Vault, Cloudsmith) a plus
- Security Aware: Consider least-privilege, token lifecycle, supply chain risks in developer tooling
- Execution: Break down ambiguous problems, deliver with minimal guidance, data-driven
Compensation
- Minimum cash compensation (salary): $212,500 - $250,000 (Santa Clara, CA; San Francisco, CA; New York, NY)
