About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end accounting for AI infrastructure capital expenditures and fixed assets, including monthly close, construction-in-progress tracking, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and flux analysis.
  • Apply technical accounting expertise under ASC 360 to capitalization, useful lives, impairment, disposals, and asset retirement obligations.
  • Partner with Data Center Operations, Legal, and Finance during contract negotiation and execution to address accounting implications.
  • Explain financial statement impacts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Improve upstream data pipelines from operational and contract systems, particularly for asset receipt, deployment, and in-service dates.
  • Design and scale systems, processes, and controls for a growing fixed asset portfolio.
  • Mentor junior accounting professionals.
  • Act as a key contact for external auditors on fixed asset and capex accounting matters.
  • Drive process improvements and automation, including AI tooling, to improve financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including operational experience at technology or infrastructure-heavy companies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge of ASC 360, particularly for infrastructure, data center, or compute-related assets.
  • Hands-on experience managing a significant fixed asset portfolio in a high-growth environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large, complex datasets.
  • Experience improving scalable financial processes in fast-moving environments.
  • Experience mentoring junior accounting professionals.
  • Ability to translate technical accounting concepts into financial implications for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Clear communication and effective cross-functional influence.
  • Experience partnering with engineering, infrastructure, or operations teams to improve financial reporting and cost transparency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience at hyperscalers, large compute consumers, or data center operators, including exposure to GPU clusters, networking equipment, and data center buildouts.
  • Experience with fixed asset subledger systems at scale.
  • SQL proficiency for analyzing infrastructure and accounting datasets.
  • Big Four accounting or advisory experience combined with industry experience.
  • Experience with complex data center buildouts or hybrid cloud/on-premises environments.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML infrastructure and related cost structures.
  • Experience applying AI tooling, including Claude, to accounting processes, memo drafting, or close automation.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results in rapidly changing environments.

Compensation

  • Annual salary: $160,000–$190,000 USD.
  • Hybrid policy: Staff are expected to work from an office at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more office time.
