About the role

Responsibilities

  • Build out and expand Cloudflare’s global network in collaboration with SRE, Network Engineering, vendors, and infrastructure partners.
  • Develop and implement consistent infrastructure management processes and visibility measurements.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network engineering, and SRE teams.
  • Create documentation and manage remote contractors for datacenter installations and upgrades.
  • Build rack elevations and coordinate global infrastructure racking and cabling.
  • Coordinate installation of cross-connects to support physical network expansion.
  • Define, document, and implement consistent processes across regions.
  • Identify and implement scalable technology and automation solutions to improve infrastructure deployment and maintenance.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of related datacenter or Linux systems administration experience.
  • Linux/Unix systems administration experience.
  • Basic experience with configuration management tools such as SaltStack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
  • Network hardware administration experience.
  • Familiarity with day-to-day datacenter operations tasks and projects.
  • Ability to write scripts for internal tools.
  • Experience running and improving operational processes in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, execute proactively, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Familiarity with program management responsibilities such as prioritization, planning, scheduling, and status reporting, including Jira.
  • Experience managing remote contractors.
  • Team-oriented approach.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree; a technical background in engineering, computer science, or MIS is a plus.
  • Experience executing datacenter or infrastructure projects with multiple moving parts.
  • Experience installing and maintaining datacenter or IT infrastructure and DCIM tools.
  • Multilingual ability and experience working with infrastructure in multiple countries.
  • Experience with remote lights-out and out-of-band access to datacenter resources.
  • Linux certifications.
  • Knowledge of the OSI model and experience isolating network, hardware, and software issues.
  • Scripting or software development experience with Bash, Python, or Go.
  • Familiarity with load balancing and reverse proxies such as Nginx, Varnish, HAProxy, or Apache.
