Lead Software Engineer in Test

Responsibilities

• Define the long-term quality and automation strategy, including frameworks, tooling, coverage strategy, and quality gates.
• Design and implement robust, maintainable automation across integration, UI, and end-to-end layers.
• Lead test planning with product squads and ensure critical functionality is prioritized and automated.
• Own test pipeline health, speed, and reliability; reduce flaky tests and strengthen feedback loops.
• Architect and maintain scalable, realistic test environments aligned with customer use cases.
• Optimize CI/CD test stages, reduce cycle times, and introduce tooling that accelerates safe deployments.
• Partner with engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle to define test strategy and automate new feature testing.
• Guide root-cause analysis and triage of test failures.
• Promote testing patterns, testability principles, and quality-focused engineering practices.
• Mentor engineers in automation best practices, framework design, troubleshooting, and quality ownership.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in test automation or software engineering, including at least 3 years in a senior or lead test engineering role.
• Experience architecting or maintaining large-scale automation frameworks across backend, frontend, and asynchronous systems.
• Fluency in Python and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Experience with Playwright, Cypress, pytest, or REST API testing frameworks.
• Ability to design high-signal, low-maintenance automated test suites for modern application stacks.
• Experience improving CI pipeline reliability in environments using Turborepo, Docker, Vercel, and AWS EKS.
• Understanding of cloud-native infrastructure, including AWS, Kubernetes, and RDS PostgreSQL.
• Experience testing distributed systems and optimizing CI/CD automation workflows.
• Ability to translate product requirements into executable, multi-layer test strategies.
• Strong collaboration skills across Product, Backend, Frontend, and DevOps teams.
