Senior/Staff Software Engineer - Embedded Linux Operating Systems
Develop and optimize embedded Linux operating systems, bootloaders, device drivers, and kernel components for autonomous-vehicle hardware. The role requires 8+ years of production software experience, embedded Linux expertise, and proficiency in systems programming and scripting languages.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain the operating system platform powering on-vehicle devices and applications.
- Architect and implement platform-level software for robust, scalable robotics infrastructure.
- Configure and manage embedded Linux build systems, including Yocto, and bootloader processes, including U-Boot.
- Develop and optimize device drivers and kernel-space components using C, C++, or Rust.
- Collaborate with development, release management, hardware engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to integrate and deliver the OS platform.
- Triage issues and support new hardware bring-up and manufacturing functions.
Requirements
- 8+ years delivering production systems and software applications.
- 2+ years delivering custom Embedded Linux operating systems.
- Deep understanding of Linux, build systems such as Yocto, and bootloaders such as U-Boot.
- Familiarity with Linux init systems such as systemd, containerization concepts including chroot, cgroups, and Linux namespaces, and filesystems.
- Understanding of device drivers and kernel-space code.
- Proficiency in a language without automatic memory management, such as C or C++.
- Proficiency in multiple scripting languages, including Bash and Python.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with embedded Linux in a robotics application.
- Familiarity with security software and technologies, including PKI, secure boot, OTA software updates, and hardware key storage.
- Familiarity with Nvidia GPUs, Nvidia Thor/Orin, CUDA, and TRT.
- Graduate degree focused on networking, operating systems, or firmware.
