AI Product Counsel

Advise Notion’s AI product and development teams on launches, partnerships, vendor agreements, licensing, regulatory issues, and customer-facing questions. About the role

Responsibilities

  • Advise AI product development teams on product launches and AI functionality.
  • Accelerate AI partnerships by collaborating on model reviews, procurement, and evaluation agreements.
  • Provide pragmatic, product-oriented counsel to help teams ship AI features quickly and responsibly.
  • Monitor emerging AI regulations and translate them into product guidance, launch requirements, and risk-based recommendations.
  • Support customer-facing AI questions by partnering with Sales, Privacy, Security, and Product.
  • Provide product legal support across the business as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product counseling experience with a technology company and/or law firm, including advising cross-functional teams on AI/ML-powered product development.
  • In-house experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating vendor agreements.
  • AI and data licensing experience, with the ability to partner with Privacy and Security on model, data, and customer requirements.
  • Sound judgment in ambiguous situations, with the ability to make clear risk decisions and articulate trade-offs.
  • Curiosity about AI and willingness to use AI tools in legal practice.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the California bar or eligibility to register as in-house counsel in California.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits.
  • San Francisco base salary range: $230,000–$260,000 per year.
