Developer Experience Engineer
Own the end-to-end developer experience for a generative AI platform, spanning API design, SDKs, dashboards, MCP, and agent-facing surfaces. The role requires 4+ years of software development experience, full-stack capability, and deep expertise building external developer products.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Own developer experience as an end-to-end product surface across APIs, SDKs, dashboards, consoles, documentation surfaces, MCP servers, and onboarding flows.
- Partner with platform engineering on API design, including versioning, error formats, pagination, asynchronous job shapes, breaking-change policy, idempotency, and naming.
- Build and improve developer-facing dashboard features such as playgrounds, API keys, usage views, request inspectors, and webhook debugging.
- Own agent-facing surfaces, including the MCP server, skills, agent onboarding paths, machine-readable interfaces, and reference patterns for agentic workflows.
- Develop and maintain SDKs, including Python and TypeScript, with composable workflows and sensible defaults for asynchronous operations, polling, and retries.
- Partner with Growth engineering and Product to improve the developer funnel from signup through repeat production use.
- Ship full-stack product engineering work and validate API and SDK changes for usability by both human developers and autonomous agents.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software development experience, including meaningful experience building developer-facing products used by external developers.
- Full-stack proficiency with TypeScript, React, and Next.js, plus Python; Go or Rust is desirable.
- Strong API design experience and sound judgment around errors, pagination, asynchronous jobs, breaking changes, and related contracts.
- Fluency with MCP, tool use, and major agent runtimes, including designing interfaces that work well when interpreted by language models.
- Experience shipping SDKs, APIs, dashboards, consoles, or developer platforms rather than only internal tooling.
Nice to Have
- Experience at a developer platform where developer experience was a top-level metric.
- Experience building or significantly contributing to an MCP server used by real users or agents.
- Experience with media-generation or other high-latency, asynchronous, job-oriented APIs, including polling, webhooks, partial results, and cost-related UX.
- A public open-source project, technical write-up, or dashboard demonstrating product and engineering taste.
Compensation
- Base annual salary: €140,000–€190,000.
- Equity included.
