Platform Engineer II

The Platform Engineer II automates cloud infrastructure, builds developer tooling, and improves the reliability and manageability of software platforms. The role requires cloud, infrastructure-as-code, scripting, CI/CD, containerization, and systems administration experience, along with participation in on-call operations.

Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure Projects

  • Treat cloud infrastructure as code; route modifications through code review and execute them via CI tools.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Administer the software platform, including Kubernetes, Pulumi Cloud, ArgoCD, CircleCI, and PostgreSQL.
  • Contribute to projects using TypeScript, Python, Go, or Bash.
  • Evaluate, design, and implement solutions for continuous integration, continuous delivery, and DevOps productivity.

Software Reliability and Developer Experience

  • Collaborate with product engineers to identify observability and configurability gaps and make code-level improvements.
  • Create tooling that improves developer experience and enables faster, more effective delivery.
  • Manage incident-response runbooks, measure operational performance, and make gradual improvements.
  • Participate in a primary weekly on-call rotation, respond to platform incidents, and perform blameless root-cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with GCP or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Experience using AI-powered coding assistants or agents, such as Claude Code, to enhance productivity and streamline development workflows.
  • Familiarity with TypeScript, Go, or similar languages.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  • Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with version control tools such as Git and GitHub.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Familiarity with observability platforms such as New Relic or Datadog.
