What you'll do
- Assist with gathering financial information and preparing monthly sales, use, and parking tax returns; help set up structured workpapers for sales, use, and income tax returns
- Enter journal entries, assist in setting up and maintaining recurring entries, and prepare monthly account reconciliations while researching reconciling items
- Support the team by compiling critical information and documents required for sales/use and income tax audits
- Gain valuable, real-world exposure to State and Federal corporate income tax compliance
- Collaborate with the broader finance team on various strategic projects and initiatives as needed
What we're looking for
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Junior standing preferred) with a minimum GPA of 3.3/4.0
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Knowledge of and experience using AI software tools to optimize workflows
- Exceptional organizational skills, sharp attention to detail, and a proactive mindset
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week (with flexibility up to 40 hours per week during normal business hours based on your class schedule)
Compensation
The anticipated base pay for this position is $18.00 USD to $23.00 USD hourly. Base pay is one component of Metropolis' total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans, and more.
