About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own vendor relationships end-to-end for primary cloud and SaaS vendors (AWS, GCP, Cloudflare, CloudQuery, ClickHouse, and more), leading renewals and negotiations alongside Finance and Legal
  • Run procurement governance including competitive-bid processes and managed-procurement partners while maintaining FinOps oversight
  • Drive commercial VIA (Visibility, Insights, Actions) model: own spend visibility, unit economics, surface licensing/usage inefficiency, and drive renewals, right-sizing, and tooling consolidation
  • Build vendor and SaaS cost reporting and dashboards hands-on; partner with data teams to scale; own governance layer (spend policies, thresholds, accountability)
  • Coordinate cloud efficiency program: keep optimization initiatives visible and tracked from commitment to realized savings, partnering with Engineering
  • Maintain role boundaries: own analytical, commercial, efficiency, and program side of vendor management (not a buying desk or contracts-admin seat)

Requirements

  • 5+ years in vendor/commercial management, procurement, FinOps, or technical/financial analysis at a senior, function-owning level
  • Experience owning vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and renewals with focus on unit economics impact
  • Experience running procurement governance (competitive-bid processes, benchmark analysis, approval thresholds, managed-procurement partners)
  • High judgment with ability to drive alignment without positional authority
  • Hands-on experience building cost dashboards and reporting (SQL, BI tools); comfortable with vendor/cloud spend data (AWS, GCP, SaaS billing) and licensing/usage analysis
  • Clear communication across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience in async or globally distributed teams
  • Energized by building a function from the ground up and navigating ambiguity

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with cloud spend optimization and efficiency programs
