About the role

Responsibilities

  • Create content that sparks engagement with current and potential 1Password developer community members at scale across channels. Generate awareness, engage in technical conversations, and help users try, contribute to, and give feedback about product workflows.
  • Engineer solutions to unsolved user needs that fill gaps, validate approaches, and inspire secure engineering practices in the real world, in collaboration with users and 1Password partners.
  • Synthesize feedback and conversations with community members and partners into actionable insights for 1Password to improve user-facing workflows.
  • Use data to evaluate engagement channels and prioritize ones that effectively generate awareness and adoption at scale. Maximize the impact of targeted, high-investment activities like conference speaking.
  • Speak at the largest and highest-stakes developer conferences, including KubeCon, re:Invent, and others.
  • Build tools and training to help other 1Password employees engage effectively with the community (e.g., speaking training, talk templates, community engagement guidelines). Collaborate with other teams to raise the technical bar for their content.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in technical roles including software or platform engineering, developer advocacy, solution engineering, or related fields. Deeply familiar with modern development workflows and patterns.
  • 5+ years experience engaging with developers in visible, public-facing roles, and advocating for their needs cross-functionally within your organization.
  • Experience engaging in sensitive and complex community situations with humility, empathy, judgment, tact, and humor.
  • Experience collaborating with partners on technical and product marketing integrations and other partnership activities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills across multiple formats: conference talks, blog posts, tutorials, books, videos, social media, and technical assets including demo code or reference architectures.
  • Trusted and credible voice in the industry with a large technical audience who use your perspective to shape their real-world technical and architectural choices.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience dealing with security-conscious developer communities or products (Identity, Auth, DevSecOps).
