Engineering Manager - Transformation & Data Lake

Responsibilities

• Own the interoperable metadata and transaction foundation for Snowflake’s Lakehouse, enabling Iceberg tables to leverage Snowflake features like replication, sharing, change tracking, managed storage, and cross-cloud reliability, while integrating Iceberg capabilities such as branching, tagging, and versioning.
• Lead the Catalog Services & Integrations Platform team to build foundational infrastructure for seamless connectivity with external ecosystems including Google BigLake, Microsoft OneLake, and Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Design and build high-performance, scalable integration layer for external catalog interoperability, enabling metadata discovery and access across the modern data stack.
• Power Horizon Catalog & Managed Polaris, delivering managed Polaris capabilities and Iceberg REST Catalog (IRC) support for open standards, governance, and interoperability.
• Enable open table formats and cross-platform compatibility to position Snowflake centrally in interconnected data landscapes.
• Build towards next-generation “Unified Pipelines” integrating Dynamic Tables with Tasks, Streams, Snowpark, and dbt.
• Develop AI-enabled pipeline authoring experiences, including prompt-based tuning and data refinement for data engineers.

Requirements

• Visionary leader passionate about distributed systems, multi-cloud architectures, and open data standards.
• Experience in high-scale platforms at the intersection of distributed systems, open table formats, and core services.
