About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the Verifications engineering team, including technical direction, performance and career development, and hiring.
  • Own the reliability and quality of fulfillment integrations; partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to reduce friction, improve turnaround times, and minimize candidate and customer impact.
  • Partner with Product on the roadmap for employment, education, drug and health, and compliance products.
  • Translate customer and regulatory requirements into engineering priorities.
  • Drive technical strategy for scaling integration-heavy systems, improving coverage, reducing manual exceptions, and increasing automation.
  • Lead adoption of AI-assisted development practices while maintaining quality and accuracy in a regulated, data-sensitive product.
  • Represent Verifications in cross-functional planning and advise on capacity, tradeoffs, and roadmap sequencing.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of engineering management experience, with a record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong command of service architecture, distributed systems, and system design.
  • Experience managing complex third-party integration environments.
  • Track record of improving operational metrics, such as incident frequency, detection time, and production reliability.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development and agentic coding tools.
  • Experience with regulated products where data accuracy and legal compliance are critical.
  • Strong incident management and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize short-term reliability work against longer-term product investments.
  • Strong communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to developing people through career conversations and stretch assignments.
  • Humility, openness to feedback, eagerness to learn, bias for action, resilience, and ownership.

Compensation and Benefits

  • San Francisco, CA on-target earnings or base salary range: $233,000–$274,000 USD.
  • Denver, CO on-target earnings or base salary range: $197,000–$232,000 USD.
