Responsibilities

  • Learn the company’s business model, key relationships, product, and history.
  • Understand how products are built, marketed, and scaled, and how legal supports those activities.
  • Become familiar with relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks.
  • Serve as a strategic legal partner who enables complex commercial deals and supports responsible growth.
  • Translate complex legal concepts into clear, practical language for different audiences.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant commercial and corporate law experience, preferably including in-house experience and negotiations with large companies.
  • Admission to a state bar, or eligibility to register as in-house counsel.
  • Curiosity about or experience using generative AI tools.
  • Ability to simplify complex topics and communicate clearly.
  • Strong research and resourcefulness skills, including using regulatory guidance, professional networks, legal publications, and law firms.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with contract lifecycle management tools such as Ironclad or Zip.
  • Experience negotiating with Fortune 500 companies and startups.
  • Experience with privacy matters, including GLBA and state privacy laws.
