Responsibilities
- Own the complete accounting lifecycle for compute and cloud infrastructure expenses, including monthly close, reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, journal entries, and flux analysis.
- Review cloud service provider and infrastructure contracts for accounting treatment, commitment tracking, and contractual compliance.
- Apply technical accounting expertise to compute infrastructure arrangements under ASC 842, including embedded-lease identification, lease-versus-service classification, measurement, modifications, and reassessments.
- Partner with Engineering, Legal, Procurement, and Finance during contract negotiation and execution.
- Develop accounting policies for recognizing, classifying, and amortizing compute costs.
- Design accrual and prepayment processes for capacity reservations, savings plans, and committed-use discounts.
- Track and reconcile commitment-based agreements and multi-year purchase obligations.
- Lead accounts payable and vendor statement reconciliations with cloud providers.
- Build scalable processes, controls, reporting, and monitoring systems for compute spending.
- Support external auditors on compute cost accounting and commitment disclosures.
- Mentor accounting professionals and serve as the compute accounting subject-matter expert.
- Lead close-workflow transformation, automated data pipelines, reporting, AI-tooling, and cross-functional finance systems projects.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience with cloud service or compute infrastructure expenses and related contracts.
- CPA or equivalent, with deep knowledge of GAAP and strong technical accounting skills.
- Working knowledge of ASC 842 applied to compute, infrastructure, or data center arrangements.
- Experience with cloud service provider cost structures and consumption-based services.
- Ability to translate contractual terms into accounting treatment and explain financial statement impacts to non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience building accounting processes, controls, and policies in high-growth environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including analysis of large datasets.
- Experience mentoring and developing accounting professionals.
- Proficiency with modern ERP systems such as NetSuite, Workday, Oracle, or similar.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and experience leading process transformation, automation, or finance systems projects.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

- SQL and BigQuery proficiency.
- Python skills for automation and analytical tools.
- Experience at a cloud service provider, data center operator, or technology company with a usage-based business model.
- Big Four accounting or advisory experience combined with an industry technology role.
- Experience with colocation, GPU clusters, networking equipment, or data center buildouts.
- Experience implementing automated reconciliation and reporting solutions.
- Familiarity with commitment-based purchasing agreements and their accounting implications.
- Experience with AI-assisted tools, including Claude, for financial analysis, memo drafting, and close automation.
- Experience supporting rapid growth and scaling initiatives.
Compensation
- Annual salary: $190,000–$230,000 USD.
