Engineering Manager, Mortgage

Responsibilities

• Drive the team’s technical vision and motivate the team through its next stage.
• Partner closely with product management to build new features and enhance existing ones.
• Reduce technical debt and sustainably scale the architecture.
• Build customer relationships and drive results.
• Nurture and grow team members based on their career aspirations.
• Hire strong talent and continue raising the team’s bar.
• Represent the team in planning and product meetings.
• Optimize engineering processes and policies to improve velocity and quality.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as an engineering manager.
• 8+ years of experience as an engineer.
• Strong critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Experience managing quality incidents as both a technical lead and communication lead.
• Experience working on products at scale, including the data, legal, human-impact, and technical nuances of highly regulated products.
• Strong experience with TDD, pair programming, and agile methodologies.
• Deep understanding of service architecture, system design, and lean software development principles.
• Ability to make high-level prioritization decisions quickly and thoughtfully.
• Ability to develop inclusive teams that foster growth and diversity.
• Humility, openness to feedback, and eagerness to learn.
• An action-oriented mindset, resilience through ambiguity, and ownership of meaningful outcomes.

• Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Compensation and Benefits

• On-target earnings or base salary: $233,000–$274,000 USD for San Francisco, CA.
