Robotics Software Engineer: Government Projects

Develop and deploy advanced robotics software for government manufacturing projects, spanning planning, learning, perception, control, R&D prototyping, and production support. Requires a master’s degree in a related field, at least two years of industry experience, and production-level C++ and Python proficiency.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement algorithms, systems, and architecture for high-DOF robotic systems in manufacturing environments.
  • Partner with Systems and Applications Engineers to define robotics software feature requirements for non-standard and R&D projects.
  • Execute proof-of-concept projects demonstrating robotic technology capabilities.
  • Test and evaluate state-of-the-art algorithms and techniques for planning, learning, perception, and control.
  • Collaborate with the Robotics Software team on coding standards and practices so R&D prototypes can transition into production code.
  • Maintain software features and versioning for systems deployed to government facilities.
  • Rapidly modify and iterate on the software stack.
  • Test and prototype inspection sensors, tools, and processes while partnering with sensor vendors.
  • Partner with software engineers to prototype new ideas, processes, and methods.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • At least 2 years of industry experience developing, implementing, and testing algorithms for planning, learning, perception, or control.
  • Experience developing complex function-based software that interacts with sensor inputs, control loops, and redundancy.
  • Production-level proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • Proficiency with ROS2 and relevant open-source robotics libraries.
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills.
  • Must meet U.S. government export-control eligibility requirements: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ years of production deployment experience with complex robotics systems.
  • Robotics R&D experience.
  • Experience with LiDARs and stereo/depth cameras.
  • Experience with 6DOF robot arms.
  • Experience with state-of-the-art robotics algorithms, such as VLA.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $130,000–$170,000.
  • Benefits and perks include medical, dental, vision, unlimited PTO, a 401(k) plan with employer match, regular offsite events, and a discretionary productivity fund.
