Software Engineer, Advanced Pilot Assistant Software

Develop and deploy autonomy, robotics, and embedded software for safety-critical pilot assistance systems. The role requires at least two years of relevant experience, production C++ or Python, and familiarity with real-time, sensor, and edge-compute systems.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy robotic and embedded software components for advanced pilot assistance systems.
  • Develop autonomy-related features and subsystems from development through deployment, emphasizing reliability and performance.
  • Write, test, and maintain production-quality Python and/or C++ code across autonomy, systems, and embedded components.
  • Integrate software with hardware, sensors, and perception or data-ingestion pipelines for autonomous and operator-in-the-loop decision-making.
  • Optimize software for edge-compute environments, including latency and resource usage.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and deployment to meet safety-critical and mission-critical requirements.
  • Collaborate on design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on development with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience designing or building robotic software and/or embedded systems, or equivalent experience through projects, internships, or coursework.
  • Production-quality programming experience in C++ and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with real-time or interactive systems supporting time-sensitive decisions.
  • Exposure to autonomy systems such as planning, decision-making, or reasoning, and sensor or perception pipelines.
  • Experience with embedded or edge-compute platforms and debugging hardware/software interactions.
  • Ability to learn quickly and contribute in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with safety-critical or mission-critical systems, aviation, or robotics.
  • Exposure to ROS or DDS.
  • Interest in human-in-the-loop systems, simulation environments, or real-time control systems.
  • Background or strong interest in autonomy, robotics, or advanced mobility.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary: $135,000–$205,000.
  • 100% of employee medical premiums covered and 25% of dependent premiums covered.
  • Three weeks of paid time off plus 13 or more paid company holidays.
  • 401(k) offered.
