About the role
Responsibilities
Work closely with in-house counsel on the Litigation & Employment team to support administrative, pre-litigation, and litigation matters, as well as external legal requests.
Manage, track, calendar, and file responses to claims.
Independently conduct factual investigations to respond to administrative claims, demand letters, and other litigation and arbitration matters; assist with drafting responses.
Prepare memoranda and summaries of factual research and make recommendations to supervising attorneys.
Assist with gathering documents and information to respond to discovery or information requests.
Complete court or agency filings and attend court appearances or agency hearings.
Think proactively about improving processes to help legal operations scale with company growth.
Liaise with other internal teams and external parties to ensure efficient workflow and handling of requests.
Provide legal support to in-house attorneys, paralegals, and internal business partners to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Help define procedures and practices within Legal to promote efficient workflows.
Maintain governance of existing processes and strategies.
Liaise with internal and external counsel and contacts on a day-to-day basis.
Lead projects and tasks within a broader legal strategy in collaboration with team members.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant legal experience (JD or Paralegal certificate not required).
Law firm experience preferred.
Experience handling discovery in complex litigation matters.
Ability to obtain notary license.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Exceptionally organized and efficient.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Mac environment, Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets), Excel, Word, and familiarity with e-discovery tools.

Expected base pay range: $88,000 - $110,000 (NYC area; dependent on qualifications, experience, and location; not inclusive of equity, bonus, or benefits).
