Responsibilities
Network Engineering
- Design, deploy, and maintain networking infrastructure.
- Configure and manage routers, switches, VPNs, Palo Alto firewalls, and network segmentation for on-site and field-deployed systems.
- Solve networking challenges across field events and exercises involving varied radio systems, routing paradigms, and connectivity constraints.
- Build and document flexible network architectures for evolving mission requirements.
Security & Compliance
- Own the IATT and ATO processes end-to-end.
- Conduct and manage STIG reviews, ACAS/Nessus vulnerability scans, and remediation across compute systems, cameras, and other networked components.
- Coordinate with government cybersecurity leads on compliance artifacts, scan submissions, and risk acceptance packages.
- Develop system security plans, network diagrams, and compliance evidence packages.
- Build approved CI/CD pipelines to support product improvements after authorization.
AI-Assisted Operations
- Use AI tools to accelerate compliance documentation, network analysis, vulnerability remediation, and configuration management.
- Integrate AI into production workflows and apply evolving AI capabilities to security and networking challenges.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering, IT security, or a related field.
- Hands-on expertise with VPNs, routers, switches, firewalls, and network architecture, including configuration, troubleshooting, and design from scratch.
- Direct experience taking at least one system through a full government IATT process and exposure to the ATO process.
- Familiarity with STIGs, ACAS/Nessus scanning, and DoD cybersecurity frameworks, including RMF and NIST 800-171.
- Experience supporting DoD or military customers on network security.
- Comfort working across satellite communications, tactical radio networks, and conventional IP networking.
- Strong documentation skills for government compliance artifacts.
Nice-to-Haves
- Tailscale or similar mesh networking experience.
- CI/CD pipeline design and DevSecOps experience.
- Aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Familiarity with CUI/SBU data handling requirements.
