Staff Developer Advocate - Asia Pacific & Japan Lead

Leads technical developer advocacy across the Asia Pacific and Japan region, including events, community programs, content creation, and coaching. The role requires substantial software development or SRE experience, senior developer relations leadership, public communication skills, and team management.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a subject matter expert for the advocacy and engineering teams.
  • Drive the approach and execution of first-party technical event content programs in the region, including summits and engineering meetups.
  • Define and drive regional advocacy programs for technical audiences.
  • Represent the company’s point of view at events and conferences.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of regional Developer Advocates across APJ.
  • Partner with and coach product managers and engineers on public communication and presentations.
  • Represent perspectives on solutions, engineering culture, and industry trends.
  • Partner with event organizers to ensure successful customer and company participation and compelling event content.
  • Create content through demos, public speaking, blogging, documentation, webinars, open source, research reports, and other mediums.
  • Contribute product feedback, including bugs and enhancement suggestions.

Requirements

  • Approximately 5+ years of experience as a software developer, SRE, or other technical practitioner.
  • Approximately 5+ years of experience in a senior technical developer relations capacity, collaborating with peers to set technical direction and influence product outcomes.
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience in storytelling and creating compelling technical content, such as written content, conference talks, workshops, live streams, videos, open source, or community events.
  • Publicly available writing samples, blog posts, demos, or technical presentation recordings.
  • Experience coaching and enabling others to speak publicly and deliver compelling talks to technical audiences.
  • Experience working on technical conferences or events, either with organizers or as an organizer.
  • Interest in self-directed exploration and education on new technologies and languages.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with regional teams to localize technical content and stories.
  • Multilingual ability, particularly Indonesian/Bahasa, Malay, Thai, or Mandarin.
