About the role

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the architecture and implementation of Astro Platform core systems and components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements and deliver product features.
  • Work with frontend developers, product management, and customers to deliver customer-facing features, including public APIs and infrastructure supporting Astro.
  • Improve platform usability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

Requirements

  • Track record of building performant, scalable, and reliable backend systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • Experience developing services with Go.
  • Experience interacting with dependencies and orchestrating services on Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL.
  • Advanced understanding of distributed systems concepts and NALSD.
  • Experience leveraging AI coding assistants and large language models such as Claude, Cursor, and Gemini for prototyping, automated testing, code refactoring, and documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • Experience with Apache Airflow or related workflow orchestrators.
  • Experience with billing, authentication, and related systems and practices.
  • Experience with Google Spanner.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Estimated salary range: $210,000–$250,000 USD annually, based on leveling and geography.
