Staff Data Engineer - Federal (Auth0)

Responsibilities

Auth0 Data Engineering Pipeline Team:

• Lead architectural design and evolution of data platform, defining roadmap for future state.
• Drive technical strategy for large-scale platform enhancements, balancing long-term goals with incremental delivery.
• Collaborate with data, platform, and security teams to create unified, secure architecture.
• Produce architectural artifacts including design documents, threat models, and technical specifications.
• Act as technical mentor, conduct code reviews, share best practices.
• Implement foundational components of new architecture with hands-on coding.

Defensive Cyber Engineering (Security Data Platform):

• Serve as security SME for solution engineering and architecture reviews.
• Lead efforts to evaluate, design, and implement enterprise security systems and enhancements.
• Build, maintain, and enhance custom automation and cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
• Develop integrations with APIs, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and security infrastructure.
• Write and maintain Python-based scripts and automations for security operations.
• Establish monitoring and alerting for security posture, misconfigurations, and threats.

Requirements

• 8+ years software development experience, with 5+ years in data engineering or data platform role.
• Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale, cross-functional technical projects.
• Extensive experience architecting and deploying data infrastructure in cloud (AWS preferred).
• Deep knowledge of modern data stack: data warehouses (Snowflake), transformation tools (dbt), orchestrators (Airflow).
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, high code quality and system design standards.
• Excellent communication skills for complex technical topics.
• Passion for secure, reliable, scalable data systems; ability to handle ambiguity.

Security Focus:

• 8+ years coding/scripting experience building automation and data pipelines (Python required).
• Experience developing/maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines for security data lakes.
• Experience with security teams for log source integration and data ingestion.
• Proven automation of security controls/workflows using cloud-first approach.
• Experience with Terraform and IaC tools, CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong collaboration with technical staff, leadership, vendors.

Nice-to-Haves

• Direct experience with FEDRamp, SOC2, HIPAA compliance.
• Hands-on with Terraform, Kubernetes.
• Experience in government cloud (AWS GovCloud).
• Familiarity with IAM domain.
• 2+ years in highly regulated environments (FedRAMP High, IL4/5/6).
• Security clearance (Secret, TS, TS/SCI).
