Product Designer, Defense

Designs developer tools and command-and-control interfaces for autonomous systems serving commercial and defense customers. The role requires 4+ years of product or UX design experience, strong interaction and visual design skills, user research expertise, and eligibility for a U.S. security clearance.

About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design process from concept to launch, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, user testing, and visual design.
  • Translate complex operational requirements and technical constraints into elegant, user-centered design solutions.
  • Develop high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes to communicate design ideas and gather feedback.
  • Conduct user research with commercial and defense personnel to understand workflows, pain points, and operational needs in mission-critical environments.
  • Work iteratively with product management, engineering, and defense subject-matter experts to refine designs.
  • Contribute to and maintain a consistent design system across multiple products.
  • Advocate for users throughout product development, ensuring products are intuitive, efficient, and reliable under demanding conditions.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer, or similar role focused on complex software applications.
  • Experience working on automotive products, video game UX, or similar interactive, real-time simulation interfaces.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design, interaction design, and visual design across desktop and mobile form factors.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and technically demanding environment.
  • Experience establishing, running, and collating user research.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with 3D visualization, geospatial data, or real-time data display.
  • Knowledge of military operations, doctrines, or defense technologies.
  • Active U.S. Government security clearance.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range: $170,000–$200,000 USD annually.
  • Compensation may also include equity, health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off.
  • Benefits may vary by jurisdiction and are subject to change.
