Software Engineer, Full Stack, Developer Productivity

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end, from initial design, to prototype, to large-scale rollout.
• Design, implement, and extend frontend frameworks and architecture for one of the largest, richest React applications, powering complex scientific analyses.
• Build and implement tooling for efficient, frictionless development, testing, and packaging for production release.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and peers in engineering to make Benchling a delightful place to develop software.
• Help rapidly scale our product and team by maturing tooling, best practices, engineering processes, and hiring.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Build tools and software with a product-first approach; ship code quickly and care about real-world impact.
• Expertise with at least one web framework, preferably Node or Python.
• Strong abilities in problem solving and iterating on feedback.
• Enjoy ownership and building key pieces of product.
• Empathy for customers and curiosity about their challenges.
• Interested in learning more about life science (prior knowledge not required; desire to learn is a must).

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with React for large-scale applications.
• Interest in developer productivity tools and frameworks.
• Familiarity with AI tools and workflows.
