Lead a cross-platform team responsible for image rendering and video playback across Pinterest apps and web.
Set the team’s technical direction and drive execution on quality, performance, and reliability for media experiences.
Partner with Media Transcoding, Performance, Data Science, Product, and Infrastructure teams to improve media delivery and experiences.
Drive initiatives to reduce media load times, improve playback smoothness, and ensure high visual quality at scale.
Guide platform and architectural decisions, balancing product needs, technical investments, and long-term maintainability.
Build and grow a high-performing team through hiring, coaching, and developing engineers.
Improve engineering excellence through operational practices, performance measurement, testing, and release quality.
Help adopt new media technologies and formats that improve user experience.
Requirements
9+ years of software engineering experience, including deep expertise in iOS or Android and familiarity with web technologies.
5+ years of engineering management experience leading client or platform engineering teams.
Deep understanding of client performance, including profiling, instrumentation, and performance optimization.
Strong technical foundation in media rendering, image delivery, video streaming, and client-side performance.
Experience with media frameworks such as AVFoundation and ExoPlayer.
Track record of delivering improvements to product experience, system performance, or engineering efficiency.
Ability to lead cross-platform work and collaborate with cross-functional partners.
Clear communication, strong technical judgment, and a people-focused leadership approach.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary: $208,592–$429,454 USD.
