About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and technical vision of Rula’s Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Payments team.
  • Design mission-critical systems for complex payments, claims submission, and revenue workflows that are scalable and robust.
  • Partner with product and clinical stakeholders to solve ambiguous operational challenges.
  • Mentor a talented team of engineers and drive a culture of technical excellence.
  • Lead high-priority, cross-team technical initiatives from conception to delivery, including stakeholder management and navigating complex technical trade-offs.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical culture, and elevate team performance through code reviews and documentation.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) to optimize development velocity and code quality.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of designing and scaling complex, distributed systems in a production environment.
  • Expertise in backend distributed architecture (microservices, event-driven systems), and experience in full-stack engineering (e.g., TypeScript, React, Node.js).
  • Demonstrated experience leading high-priority, cross-team technical initiatives from conception to delivery, including stakeholder management and navigating complex technical trade-offs.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers, influence technical culture, and elevate team performance through code reviews and documentation.
  • Proficiency in leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) to optimize development velocity and code quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at startup / growth-stage companies.
  • Experience with NodeJs, Typescript, Kafka, AWS or equivalent, React.
  • Strong domain knowledge or ability to rapidly master financial/healthcare systems (HIPAA compliance, claims/payments).
  • High personal awareness, and growth mindset.
