Senior Front-End Engineer

About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own front-end architecture for core product surfaces, including state management, data fetching, performance, and scalability.
  • Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces with modern front-end technologies.
  • Design, develop, and evolve a shared component library and design system.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers on REST, SSE, and GraphQL API contracts and efficient data flow.
  • Build AI-first, real-time experiences with streaming and interactive components.
  • Use AI-assisted tools for code generation, refactoring, testing, linting, and review while maintaining quality.
  • Partner with Product and Design to turn UX concepts into production-ready features and identify edge cases and implementation risks.
  • Drive performance, accessibility, cross-browser support, and front-end quality.
  • Establish engineering standards, write testable code, lead by example in code reviews, and define front-end best practices.

Requirements

  • Several years of professional front-end engineering experience or equivalent experience building production applications with JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks such as React and Next.js.
  • Strong command of HTML, CSS, and modern styling approaches, including CSS-in-JS, design tokens, and component-based styling.
  • Deep understanding of browser behavior, layout, and performance.
  • Experience owning and evolving complex front-end systems.
  • Experience integrating REST, GraphQL, or streaming APIs and collaborating with backend teams on system design.
  • Experience building or supporting real-time, streaming, or AI-driven UI components.
  • Strong product and UX judgment, with the ability to work closely with designers and product managers.
  • Experience with testing strategies, CI/CD workflows, and Git.
  • Comfort with AI-augmented engineering workflows.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience building conversational or chat-based interfaces with complex client-side state, streaming responses, and dynamic message flows.
  • Ownership of a design system or shared component library used by multiple engineers or teams.
  • Deep TypeScript experience in large-scale front-end codebases.
  • Strong background in performance optimization, accessibility, and cross-browser support at scale.
  • Experience in a fast-moving startup or AI-native product environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to articulate UI constraints, technical trade-offs, and architectural decisions.

Compensation

  • Estimated yearly salary: $160,000–$230,000 USD.
