Responsibilities
Design and build robust embedded applications and web microservices for the configuration and runtime settings system
Develop startup-time and runtime auditing/control of software and hardware settings
Own service architecture that connects vehicle and cloud for dynamic configuration
Drive technical direction and lead large-scale, cross-team projects with independence and critical thinking
Collaborate and communicate effectively across cross-functional teams, including vehicle software, tools, and operations, to drive successful project outcomes
Requirements
8+ years of combined experience in device/edge software, cloud systems architecture and development
Deep experience designing, building, and operating cloud-based microservices and cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
Proficient in Python, Kotlin or Java, and REST APIs, with familiarity in C++, and proven experience building data pipelines and APIs between cloud and edge devices
Strong systems thinking and ability to understand complex, cross-cutting architectures
Proven track record of steering large-scale projects from initial concept through to successful deployment
Nice-to-Haves
Experience in robotics, autonomy, or large-scale distributed systems
Familiarity with vehicle environments, maps, GPS, and OTA updates
Lead firmware connectivity systems integration and test for Zoox's TCU, owning performance, optimization, and debugging across 4G/5G, WiFi, and satellite networks. Requires 8+ years experience and deep expertise in cellular protocol stacks and wireless test platforms.
Owns flight control system design, development, and verification for XBAT VTOL aircraft, ensuring stable performance across all flight phases. Leads simulations, testing, integration with vehicle systems, and mentors engineers; requires 10+ years GNC experience on real vehicles.
Integrates autonomy software onto unmanned aircraft, handles pre-flight preparation, supports on-site flight tests, debugs hardware/software issues, and analyzes flight data in lab and field settings. Requires 10+ years experience, C++/Python proficiency, and embedded systems knowledge.
Designs and implements tactical autonomy algorithms and high-performance software for unmanned systems across air, land, and sea domains, integrating classical methods with reinforcement learning. Requires 10+ years experience in robotics, C++/Python proficiency, and DoD-relevant unmanned tech.
