About the role

About the Work

Scenario & Coverage Strategy

  • Understand taxonomy of challenging scene sets for autonomy validation, ensuring coverage of safety-critical, edge-case, and adversarial scenarios from real-world data and systems requirements.
  • Own technical framework for measuring validation coverage, identifying gaps, and engineering decisions to close them.
  • Partner with systems engineers to translate requirements and failure modes into testable scenario definitions.

Large-Scale Simulation

  • Drive technical design of simulation campaigns: scenario selection, variation strategies, metrics, and results interpretation.
  • Ensure campaign design maximizes signal with appropriate scenarios, fidelity, and actionable results.
  • Identify inconclusive simulation results and drive resolution.

Fault Injection & Unhealthy Autonomy

  • Own strategy for fault injection and degraded-mode validation: defining failure conditions, induction methods, and acceptable behaviors.
  • Collaborate on fault injection test matrices from FMEA and failure mode analysis.
  • Ensure unhealthy behaviors are root-caused and tied to requirements/safety goals.

Requirements Traceability & Systems Engineering

  • Maintain traceability between requirements, scenarios/tests, and validation evidence for audit-ready coverage.
  • Apply systems engineering principles: interface dependencies, assumptions, V&V mapping.
  • Bridge systems development and validation execution.

Technical Collaboration & Domain Expertise

  • Provide deep understanding of autonomy stack and validation to spot gaps and ask hard questions.
  • Partner with Systems Validation TPM on technical alignment without duplicating planning.
  • Communicate validation logic and gaps to stakeholders.

About You

  • 4–6 years in systems engineering, autonomy validation, or technically-focused TPM role in AV, robotics, or aerospace.
  • Deep familiarity with scenario-based testing, coverage-driven validation, or autonomy stack evaluation.
  • Strong systems engineering fundamentals: requirements traceability, V&V, interface management, failure mode analysis.
  • Ability to engage technically with engineers.
  • Comfortable with ambiguous technical problems.

Bonus

  • Experience with large-scale simulation campaigns, scenario variation, results analysis.
  • Familiarity with SOTIF (ISO 21448), UL 4600, safety-of-the-intended-functionality.
  • Background in ODD analysis, scenario taxonomy, safety case.
  • Experience with simulation platforms like CARLA, LGSVL, or proprietary AV sims.

Compensation

Base pay range: $132,300 - $198,450. Eligible for annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
