About the role

Responsibilities

  • Create and drive an incubation engine for new energy technologies, converting them into scalable deployments for AI infrastructure power.
  • Scout, vet, and adopt frontier energy technologies and market mechanisms to generate contractable, financeable electricity.
  • Build and maintain a Crusoe-specific market map of energy technologies, market structures, and regulatory pathways.
  • Source opportunities, conduct due diligence, and develop actionable bets with diligence plans, pilot designs, and scale pathways.
  • Incubate technologies from concept to deployable projects, including pilot projects with modular data centers.
  • Structure and negotiate agreements with commercial, operational, and legal teams for long-term advantages.
  • Drive cross-functional projects across engineering, business development, finance, legal, data centers, and public affairs.
  • Create partnerships with academic institutions, government labs, and research entities.
  • Publish thought leadership to position Crusoe as a market leader in energy innovation for AI.

Requirements

  • Commercially-minded engineer able to evaluate energy technologies on design, operations, economics, and strategic value.
  • Strong grasp of power markets, energy project development, and financeable power with bounded risk.
  • Elite technical analysis skills, including technoeconomic models for generation, storage, fuels, grid-edge solutions ($/kW-month, $/MWh, uptime risk).
  • Compelling interpersonal skills to build relationships, partnerships, persuade, and drive negotiations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, presentation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • High agency, bias towards action, comfort in ambiguity, independent operation, and creative thinking on markets/technologies.
  • Experience in strategy execution, defining priorities, decision criteria, and kill/scale gates.
  • Ability to produce board/exec-ready materials and drive decision velocity.
  • Lead diligence (technical, market, regulatory, commercial) and produce investment memos.

  • Experience in venture capital-style commercial thinking, deal flow sourcing, and corporate development.
  • Partnerships with developers, OEMs, EPCs, utilities, ISOs/RTOs, financiers, and suppliers.
