Staff Software Engineer - macOS
Leads architecture, development, and technical strategy for secure macOS client software within a device identity platform. The role requires 7+ years of experience, deep Swift and Apple-platform expertise, advanced debugging skills, and a strong focus on security, testing, and mentoring.

Responsibilities
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering Directors, and Principal Architects to translate strategic business objectives into technical roadmaps.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and QA to deliver critical engineering initiatives.
- Lead the design and implementation of new features and services from conception through deployment.
- Mentor Staff and Senior engineers, guide technical design reviews, and raise engineering standards across the organization.
- Establish rigorous code standards, comprehensive automated testing, modern CI/CD pipelines, and architectural best practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and foster knowledge sharing.
- Use AI coding assistants to accelerate delivery.
- Identify emerging trends in device security and AI-native development, and prototype solutions.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive software development experience.
- Proven experience designing and building macOS or iOS features using Swift.
- Deep expertise in macOS or iOS software environments, including design, performance optimization, and security.
- Advanced debugging and performance optimization using Xcode, LLDB, and Instruments, including resolving memory issues and concurrency bugs.
- Experience in agile environments, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction.
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot.
- Conceptual understanding of macOS or iOS security features.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Security expertise in cryptography, endpoint security, Secure Enclave, device management/MDM protocols, or endpoint detection.
- Understanding of identity and access management technologies, including FIDO, OIDC, and OAuth.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices.
- CISSP or Security+ certification.
