AI Engineer - Assistant Experience
Build and operate Dougie, an agentic AI system that executes workflows, evaluates its own performance, retains institutional context, and improves in production. The role requires experience deploying unattended agentic systems and engineering reliable memory, retrieval, orchestration, and feedback loops.

Responsibilities
- Own and expand Dougie’s agent capabilities across Build’s ontology for digital labor.
- Integrate grading and evaluation directly into the execution path so runs improve over time.
- Build a memory layer that preserves institutional context across sessions.
- Instrument human-in-the-loop time and deliberately reduce it.
- Improve agent orchestration, including planning, tool use, and recovery from partial failures.
- Build feedback paths from expert corrections into system behavior.
- Rigorously debug nondeterministic systems.
- Own the agent’s production behavior, including failure scenarios.
Requirements
- Experience building agentic systems that run unattended with real-world consequences.
- Treat memory, context, and retrieval as engineering problems.
- Strong ownership, execution, debugging, and systems-engineering skills.
Compensation and Benefits
