Staff Technical Program Manager, Hardware
Co-leads ambitious hardware/software initiatives, driving cross-functional execution, risk management, and strategic alignment for complex programs at scale. Requires 10+ years TPM experience in hardware/software environments and bachelor's in technical field.
Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end delivery of Carbon’s most complex programs, ensuring integration between hardware engineering, software engineering, operations, and product.
- Coordinate cross-functional alignment to identify and resolve structural bottlenecks in development processes.
- Proactively identify high-order risks and manage complex dependencies between hardware lead times and software sprint cycles.
- Serve as primary point of contact for executive leadership, translating technical complexities into business insights.
- Scale “Ways of Working” by implementing lean frameworks and mentoring TPMs and engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in technical program management, delivering complex, large-scale products.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across hardware and software environments.
- Significant experience implementing methodologies to accelerate technical development and delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Computer Science, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
Nice-to-Haves
- 6+ years in Senior or Staff-level TPM role in high-growth tech or advanced manufacturing.
- Deep expertise in full product development life cycle for hardware/software systems.
- Ability to influence culture, processes, and decisions without formal authority.
- Experience in additive manufacturing, robotics, or hardware/software integration.
Compensation
- Bay Area, CA: $176,000 - $303,600 per year (midpoint $220,000 - $253,000 based on experience and location).
