Senior Manager, M&A and Tax Planning
Lead global M&A tax planning, investments, and post-closing integration for Block. Manage federal/state income tax planning, audits, and cross-functional tax advisory.
Responsibilities
- Lead Block’s global M&A, investments, and post-closing integration/compliance activities.
- Partner with internal teams, tax colleagues, and external advisors on the tax aspects of acquisitions, dispositions, investments, structuring, and integration.
- Perform tax modeling and quantitative analyses (e.g., Sections 382/383, stock basis, and transaction-related calculations).
- Research complex tax issues, advise cross-functional stakeholders (HR, Treasury, Legal, Corporate Development, Accounting), and prepare technical tax memoranda supporting filing positions and planning strategies.
- Manage income tax audits from planning and IDR responses through resolution.
- Support special tax projects, including new product reviews, Treasury and Capital Markets initiatives, and state income tax planning.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in M&A tax, including complex federal income tax planning and tax research experience at a Big Four accounting firm, law firm, or a large multinational corporate environment.
- Knowledge of US federal income tax (e.g., subchapter C and consolidated return regulations).
- Excellent tax research skills.
- Experience working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
- Project management skills and an enjoyment for working on multiple projects with ownership of your function.
- A hands-on willingness to accept challenging projects outside areas of experience or comfort.
Nice-to-Haves
- Fundamental working knowledge of all non-income based federal, state and local, US international, and foreign tax regimes.
- Experience with taxation of cryptocurrencies, financial products and tax information reporting.
- Experience with Treasury-led initiatives, such as capital market transactions, global cash pooling and intercompany lending.
- Experience managing Federal, state and local income tax audits and other tax controversies.
- CPA/MS Taxation or JD/LLM in Tax.

Credit Strategy Manager
Own credit risk strategy and acquisition channel optimization for co-branded credit cards. Define targeting criteria, build ROI models, and partner with risk, data science, marketing, and finance to balance growth and portfolio quality.
Director of Strategic Finance
Own long-range planning, investor storytelling, corporate development, and cross-functional decision support at a fast-growing AI music company. Report to the VP of Finance and partner with Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Operations.
