About the role

Responsibilities

  • Be the subject matter expert for Applied's autonomous vehicles by building deep familiarity with all aspects of the system.
  • Provide vehicle integration support by designing, prototyping, and installing proof-of-concept systems and sensors.
  • Lead and support the vehicle from build-out through delivery, including final bring-up and shakedown testing.
  • Design and build test benches to validate mechanical, electrical, embedded, and software systems.
  • Develop and own documentation related to vehicle integration.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle systems, computer components, and sensors, performing root cause analysis.
  • Minimize vehicle downtime while focused on safety.
  • Work independently on high-level, dynamically evolving challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical, electrical, or related field.
  • 1+ years technical experience in mechanical, electrical, computer, automotive, or robotics industry.
  • Experience working with AV components: Lidars, Radars, Cameras.
  • Previous experience with low volume manufacturing in automotive or robotics industry.
  • Proven ability to read and understand electrical schematics and datasheets.
  • Experience with documenting and maintaining detailed assembly procedures.
  • Experience using shop equipment, 3D printers, automotive diagnostic tools.

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with CAD (or SolidWorks) design process.
  • CNC, Machining, Metal Working, and Welding experience.
  • Experience with Automotive Repair and Maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Python or other programming languages.
  • Familiarity with ROS and Linux OS.
  • Familiarity with programming microcontrollers/microprocessors.

Compensation

  • Base salary range: $118,000 - $201,000 USD annually (plus equity and benefits).
