Staff Software Engineer - Android Device Authenticators

Responsibilities
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and QA to deliver critical engineering initiatives.
- Lead the design and implementation of features within the core Android and Kotlin platform, from conception through deployment.
- Define and champion engineering best practices; contribute to technical designs, proposals, and long-term architectural decisions.
- Mentor and coach engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
- Develop maintainable software with comprehensive test coverage and improve testing and CI/CD strategies.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and foster knowledge sharing.
- Adopt AI-native engineering practices and AI coding assistants while maintaining rigorous security and code-quality standards.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of software development experience, including at least 3 years designing and building scalable, high-performance Android client-side features using Kotlin.
- Deep expertise building secure, high-quality Android applications, including performance optimization and multithreading.
- Experience designing, building, and securing APIs for large-scale mobile systems.
- Expert knowledge of Android frameworks and debugging across Android OS versions and device types.
- Understanding of design patterns, scalability patterns, security engineering, and object-oriented principles.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction.
- Proficiency with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with Identity and Access Management protocols and technologies, including FIDO, U2F, WebAuthn, SSO, SAML, OAuth, and Federation.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, secure coding practices, and certifications such as CISSP or Security+.
- Experience building security applications such as VPNs, firewalls, or antivirus software.
