About the role

Key Responsibilities

  • Own state-level strategy and calibrate Openly's homeowners program for assigned states and new state entries, including UW eligibility, coverage offerings, competitive positioning, and proprietary models.
  • Manage the state filing process, DOI relationships, and correspondence to ensure timely regulatory approval.
  • Collaborate with Technology and Operations teams to implement rate reviews and new state launches.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators and drivers of profitability (loss ratios, actuarial indications, frequency/severity trends, sales conversion, persistency); translate findings into actionable strategic recommendations.
  • Develop cost-benefit analyses of state-level strategic initiatives and present recommendations balancing market opportunity with company objectives and profitability targets.
  • Identify business challenges and opportunities; design analytical frameworks to evaluate options and deliver recommendations.
  • Cultivate partnerships with Business Development; serve as primary conduit for field-level market feedback into the Insurance Product organization.
  • Escalate state-level insights warranting countrywide product changes; act as internal advocate for market needs.
  • Contribute to other product management initiatives such as external data evaluations, market/competitor intelligence, and new product development.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in insurance product management or product development roles, with demonstrated focus on strategy, analytics, or state-level product ownership.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Solid analytical skills with ability to develop and interpret quantitative analyses and translate findings into strategic narratives for senior leaders and cross-functional audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and define complex business problems and develop relevant analytical frameworks to deliver solutions, often operating in ambiguity and leveraging creativity.
  • Strong communication, storytelling, and project management skills.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with people at all levels across the company.
  • Strong decision-making skills, using data to inform strategic recommendations.
  • P&C insurance experience required; homeowners insurance experience a plus.
  • Insurance product compliance and/or state regulatory relationship experience a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Budgeted Salary Range: $115,680–$137,370 USD
Full Salary Range: $108,450–$180,750 USD
