Senior Stock Plan & Payroll Specialist

About the role

Responsibilities

Payroll Administration (60%)

  • Process accurate, timely bi-weekly/semi-monthly payrolls for 185+ employees using payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
  • Review, validate, and approve timecards, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
  • Manage employee onboarding, offboarding, and status changes in the payroll system.
  • Reconcile payroll sub-ledgers to the general ledger and prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll statements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, New York state, and local tax withholding laws and labor regulations.
  • Administer wage garnishments and tax levies.
  • Support annual financial and internal audits.

Stock Plan Administration (40%)

  • Administer private-company equity compensation plans, including stock options and RSUs, using equity management software.
  • Process option exercises, cancellations, and restricted stock vesting.
  • Track vesting schedules and grant criteria while maintaining data integrity.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and HR to support regulatory compliance and financial audit reporting.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for employee stock plan questions, account navigation, and exercise processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive, hands-on experience handling payroll processing and equity administration.
  • Private-company equity experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong working knowledge of modern HRIS, payroll, and equity management platforms.
  • Familiarity with equity compensation taxation, global mobility where applicable, and multi-state payroll regulations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial and HR data.
