About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable features and infrastructure for AI-powered development tools.
  • Engage directly with developers inside and outside Anthropic to gather insights and improve user experience.
  • Collaborate with researchers to improve model capabilities through shared tools and evaluations.
  • Experiment with new AI-assisted coding tools, evaluate emerging techniques, and track enhancements.
  • Contribute across the stack, from front-end UI to back-end infrastructure, to develop features, fix bugs, and optimize performance.
  • Work in areas such as Python notebooks, VS Code plug-ins, and containerized environments.

Requirements

  • Passion for AI-assisted coding and developer productivity tools.
  • Experience building and maintaining developer tools.
  • Expert React development skills, including performance optimization, modern patterns such as hooks, context, and suspense, and component architecture.
  • User experience engineering expertise with full-stack development capability.
  • Hands-on experience with large language models and prompt engineering.
  • Experience with stringent safety, security, or compliance requirements.
  • 6+ years of work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Building and maintaining CLI tools.
  • Working in large codebases and quickly learning unfamiliar development environments.
  • Container orchestration and cloud infrastructure.
  • Scaling TypeScript projects.
  • Working with alternative JavaScript runtimes such as Bun and Deno.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary: $320,000–$625,000 USD.

Work Arrangement
