About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own video production at Prox: customer documentaries, field interviews with technicians, conference footage, founder/lifestyle content, product demos, and fast-turnaround social edits.
  • Shoot planning: turn customer visits, technician interviews, conferences, office days, and founder schedules into clear shoot plans.
  • Filming: run camera, audio, lighting, framing, interview setups, run-and-gun conference footage, screen/product captures, and office/lifestyle footage.
  • Interview direction: help non-actors speak naturally, ask good questions, find the real moment, and make technical people feel comfortable.
  • Editing: cut polished short-form and mid-form videos quickly (LinkedIn clips, documentary cuts, founder edits, product demos, event recaps, customer stories).
  • Content packaging: create hooks, selects, captions, subtitles, thumbnails, cutdowns, exports, and versioned assets for multiple channels.
  • Asset system: keep footage organized, build archive, label best moments, preserve reusable b-roll.
  • Creative direction: help define Prox's visual language (pacing, color, music, titles, recurring formats, thumbnails, framing, interview style, product shots, editing taste).
  • Work with founders, GTM, customer teams to iterate on content based on learnings from shoots.
  • Travel to customer sites, dealer floors, service desks, trade shows, field calls for filming.

Requirements

  • Strong shooter and editor: produce clean, watchable footage and edit it into engaging videos.
  • Documentary instincts: find the story in customer visits, technician interviews, conferences, or office sessions.
  • Good taste: work should not feel like a SaaS explainer, corporate brand film, or generic startup content.
  • Comfortable directing real people: founders, customers, technicians, dealers, and strangers without making them stiff.
  • Fast turnaround: ship same-day rough cuts, 24-48 hour social edits, and clean final cuts.
  • Field-ready: comfortable traveling and filming in imperfect conditions (factories, job sites, trade shows).
  • Excited to film manufacturers, field technicians, HVAC/plumbing/trade workers, founders, customers, conferences, and startup moments.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience creating content that resonates with technical/trade audiences (YouTube, LinkedIn, trade content, repair/how-it's-made videos).
  • Ability to develop a recognizable visual language and house style for the company.
  • Experience turning real-world observations into compelling shoots without overproducing.
